Running off the alternator is not good for the alternator and humans for that matter since if one where to touch the wrong thing at the right time you could end up 6 foot under due to electrocution. When yo run something off the alternator with no battery the VR sees a dead battery and put out max AMPS AND VOLTS AND THE AMPS ARE WAY MORE THEN IT TAKES TO KILL AND ALSO THE VOLTS CAN GO UP TO 90 PLUS AND THAT FRIES THE ALTERNAOTR.
So good chance the alternator is now bad and likely to will need to be replaced of you will fry the batteries
