Someone messed with that screw. It holds a bracket on a hydraulic tube inside. Didn't hurt anything just needs to be fixed. Remove the left side running board - left/right is Always as you are sitting in the seat. Remove the round cover there. Look inside with a flashlight. You might have to drain down the oil inside some. You will see the tube and bracket. If you don't have about a 7' armspan you will need your wife, kid, neighbor, buddy to help. Have them turn the screw with a screwdriver while you reach inside and hold the bracket in place. Easy peasy. There is a very good Ford specific forum here.
