Sorry for posting this on here but I couldn't get the truck forum to work. We just got done with cutting silage, had nearly 30 acres to cut before the rain from Irma got here. I had some trouble with my 74 IH 1600 dump truck, it has the 5+2 transmission in it, the gears are 1,2 & 4 on top and R,3 & 5 on the bottom. Twice while shifting from 2nd into 1st gear the tranny locked up, both times I was still in 2nd but the shifter would not move, it seemed like when I went to go down with the gear shift it went down at an angle. Both times it locked up while I was loaded and pulling, I took the 4 bolts out of the shifter cover, lifted it up, moved the right shift bar (rail) up slightly, put the cover and bolts back on and away I went. I would like to know what is making it do this, the rest of the day I would stop, make sure I was in neutral, then went over and up into first gear. I have replaced the first & reverse lever block and the ball and springs that go under the cover. Its not hard to get it unlocked but just aggravating and a little warm sometimes LOL Anyone know of what I might could check??

Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this
