Every time my grandpa would go out to feed and water his cows (to set in his ways for a fountain) he had this red flashing light the was made for a bicycle or something with twine tied around it that he hung on his rear view mirror. In the winter in the dark he would know from a mile away but in the daylight he could see it as soon as he started to get in the truck and knew to think if he shut the hydrant off or not. To my knowledge he never did leave it on after that
