I was about 6 or 7 when the mower on the Panzer was declared unusable. Not enough HP, way too much weight hung to one side. Our father then tried to turn it into a tow-behind, with a neighbor's welding help. Tried to graft an army surplus 10 hp Briggs onto the deck but that didn't work out well, either. By then, he had two indentured servants who were old enough (my brother & I !!) and we got pressed into service behind walk-behind mowers.
The Panzer soldiered on, though. It had a dozer blade that was used a lot and a dump trailer, adapted from a Gravely trailer, that hauled lord-knows how many tons of dirt, gravel, and rock as our folks (and us two boys) built a house, a loonnnng concrete circular driveway, a pool, and many other projects. It also served as a puller in our backyard contests.
