Take the cap and rotor and dust cover off. Turn the engine till the points are open. Then take the ignition side wire off the coil. Turn in the ignition and touch the wire back on to the coil. If you get a spark when you do that you have a short in the distributor and many times it is caused by the insulator going in the side of the distributor. My 841S had that happen and I have seen it on a good number of fords
