The cops won't do anything! Well that has more to do with your local politicians and prosecutors. Most cops would love to catch a crook. But the cops will not put much effort into it if they know that the crook won't be prosecuted or will only get a slap on the wrist. Or their budget is so small they can barely maintain the police force. They don't have the money for a crime lab or expensive DNA testing. My county for example 1 doesn't have enough officers. 2 doesn't have a crime lab and has to reimburse the state when they use it. That's the politicians at work. Most often paying for things that are not needed and shortchanging services. But the cops take the heat because they can't do anything.
That much grain? Yea, I'd look at haulers and other farmers. Especially farmers that are right on the edge of going broke.
On another note, cops know that the more a crime scene is contaminated the less likely they are going to be able to gather enough evidence to gain a conviction if they can ID the bad guy and make an arrest. So if the OP got there, drove/walked through the area, opened doors, bin lids and electrical controls there isn't much in the way of evidence to gather.
