I just today had my 4 year checkup on what would have been a really bad case (smelled of terminal by Dec. '13) of Lymphoma....squeaky clean and have been since the last of the 6 treatments in Sept '13.
I bring the Dr. (female) and nurses roses every time I come and give them a big hug which they enthusiastically return....good to give them some uplift being in that doom and gloom environment.
Go back to the chemo room and show off to the patients undergoing treatment. Show them that there is hope. You can see the companions, usually spouses or siblings, eyes light up, grins, tears, emotional reactions from the fret and worry about their loved one. Keeping the spirit....Half the battle. I know of at least 2 cases where the mind tells the body to die and it dies. My mother at 86 was one, just got tired of living; had just fallen and broke her hip. In a week she was gone. Gotta keep the mind focused on recovery.
