A lot of people do that. The more educated they are,the more they tend to do it I think. When was the last time you heard or read the word might instead of may? When I was in elementary school we didn't get away with that. If you said something like "you may want to",the teacher would all but slap you down and tell you that may gives permission,might means something could happen.
