I know next to nothing(!!) about such financial things between states, but I have to wonder if all things are taken into account. I remember fairly recent wildfires in Texas where they were needing financial help due to all the damage, yet it didn't seem as though that help came. California, on the other hand, has lots of wildfires every year and, in return, gets much aid from Uncle Sam.
Going back to Texas and other Gulf Coast states, add in the costs due to hurricanes. Some years back there was that bridge collapse in/near Minneapolis. The list goes on and on, and I have a difficult time accepting that one small article can properly put everything in focus. The article already showed three different aspects, but aspects that showed in the light they wanted to show in. Could other aspects show just as favorably in the other direction? Again, I don't know....but it certainly wouldn't surprise me.
This is something I've seen used on both sides for a long time - picking and choosing the information that "they" want to use, and ignoring information they don't want. ...Sorta like telling a.......no, it IS telling a half-truth -- and that's when the facts haven't been "doctored". Again, both sides have done that, so I'm not trying to show up one side or the other - just telling it as I see it. Just this one subject (state-to-state and state-to-federal finances) goes so far over my head it's ridiculous, much less trying to follow and keep up with all the other subjects.
