Gentlemen,
I am working on my cousins John Deere LA and need to make a decision.
This tractor no longer has the magneto, but a regular coil and points.
Is it better or easier to convert this to a negative ground system or keep the current positive ground system? I think I tried this years ago, but the starter ran in the opposite direction.Do I have to momentarily spark the field and armature or is the starter on these not series wound?
It is easier to get a 12 volt car battery now than a six volt. I know on some tractors the starter can handle 12 volts, but I am not sure with the JD LA?
