When you state,won't work, do you mean won't lift, won't hold, or leaking fluid? Some of these are rather easy to fix. The cheaper ones aren't worth the effort. But $50 is fifty bucks. There should be a screw on the side of jack that a straight screwdriver will remove. Take it loose/out and see if it is full of fluid/oil. If not put some hydralic oil in it. Ya, that would be to simple. I have about 8 or 9 jacks of different tonnage. I have to admit that most are from HF and I use them a lot, trouble free. If you have to take it apart, some are made so that you have to grind the heads off the pins/bolts that hold it together. Those I don't mess with either, cheap.
