My father bought used refurbished airplane tires for a piece of logging equipment, a short wood skidder that he pulled behind a JD 350 crawler, they worked great. I remember they were 24 ply and it said do not exceed 250 mph on the side. I think the tires came from Knapton tire co near the Minneapolis airport. I would thing there would be places that recycle used airplane tires near any major airport, when they are no longer safe for an airplane they still have a lot of life left. He had a very capable friend that made up custom wheels for them as they were only about 16 inch rims. The rims came from Pioneer wheel and rim and the friend made the centers. Why can I remember all these details? It was 50 years ago!
