All great ideas how to fix the problem , but I would definatly install collar ties between the other rafters even every 2nd one. Those old stuctures were good but dry out and fail. We have a modern 40 ' span open truss barn that hold 4 ' of snow every winter and never moves , because of the strengh and desgin of the structure.
