I have a 444 with the c-153 engine that ran fine never smoked or made any noise I went to go change the oil there was nothing in the filter so I pulled the pan off and the camshaft retainer was broke in half laying in the pan and the cam gear for the oil pump and the oil pump gear are destroyed any idea what would cause this also could I get away with a new cam and oil pump it never ran bad also I should note when I bought the tractor it was winter and the exhaust had holes in and filled the mother with water and froze unknowingly I tried to start it I this also caused some bent pushrods is that what broke the retainer
