The Blizzak is about the Best snow or winter tire made. Wife drove an '88 Mustang GT for 9 northwestern Illinois and south central Wisconsin winters. It was absolutely terrible on snow, ice, or just wet roads. SON started driving it when he was 16. First winter he put a used set of Blizzaks on it he bought from some friends of ours. It actually got around as good on 3-4 inches of snow as my 4wd pickup. Deeper than that it ran out of ground clearance. Blizzaks are made from such soft rubber they should not be driven in hot weather. They wear really fast.
I put a pair of Firestone WinterForce tires on my work car, S40 Fwd Volvo, the winter we got over 100 inches of snow and I drove 120 miles round trip to work. Couple days I drove my truck, like the day we got 15-18 inches of snow. My car handled 4-5 inches of snow or slush great, deeper than that it ran out of ground clearance. I ran them all summer last summer, maybe 4000 miles, harder rubber than the Blizzak but the tread is identicle, gives up a little traction on ice and hard packed snow, but wears much longer than the Blizzzk, I have about 15,000 miles on them and less than half wore out. Great tire if you have to drive in ice and snow.
