Fire Dept. buds that is. We got toned out for an alarm activation at a school dormitory last night at around 7:30, which unless you eat late is pretty much an optimum time. I thought that we would be short handed due to people going out but we had a good turn-out. There were five guys and a girl there when I got there, and as I walked in I said "what a bunch of losers! no party to go to so we're sitting around waiting for the fire tone". The activation turned out to be a frozen sprinkler head, so it was mainly just picking up water. When we were back in station and in service I asked a few if they planned to stay another two and a half hours to observe the new year with their buds, but there were no takers. It is a pretty good bunch with some in their early twenties on up to me at 68. It is a lot different from eight years ago before I got kicked out when the old chief had us deeply split between "his guys" and the rest of us.
