Chinas industrial input makes up 40% of their GDP and the US is less than half that at 19.1%. In revenue China also dwarfs us by about 25% when you compare the industrial sectors as of 2015. Forecasts are that the US will pass China as the top manufacturing nation in a few years IF the current trend of making the US more business friendly continues.
