The problem with modern hog operations is (among other things) the investment. Put the hogs out on pasture in A frames. About the time dad finaly got out of hogs is about the time elevated farrowing crates started coming out. Alot of investment. But now they are obsolete because every thing is slat floor barns and we wonder why agriculture is going down the toilet. We are buying $250k tractors to farm a section and over in some third world country they are farming 40 acres with a walk behind tiller and if their lucky a tractor that we would call a "garden tractor".
