Did you know if you take an egg from an "Organic" chicken and hatch it, and raise the bird on only organic and organic approved food stuffs until it's ready to lay eggs, still only feeding it organic feed that if you put that bird into a conventional laying cage or even a cage-free egg house those eggs will not be considered organic? Organic has become a label that really means "politically correct" food stuffs. To certify them as organic you have to have 100 square feet of outside ground available for each bird to be organic, doesn't matter if the birds never go outside they have to have the availability of outside areas for the eggs to be labelled as organic. Did you know the mortality rate of hens housed in a "Cage Free" hen house will be higher than hens housed in conventional caged laying houses? Seems when you put the hens in a cage-free environment they bossy hens feel the need to continually establish the pecking order and will pick out weaker birds to peck to death and will continue to do so through out their life cycle.
