Good Morning!
I purchased a D17 over the winter. It started making a grinding noise behind the clutch area a little over a month ago. It came time to hook up the brush hog and the PTO worked for about 15min then wouldn't do anything at all when I'd engage it. I'm wondering if this is related to the grinding noise? The grinding happens any time that the clutch pedal is released. When the clutch pedal is pressed in, grinding stops.
I'm new to tractors and am trying to figure out where to start with working on it. I had a friend stop by with a video scope and he took a look at the clutch (my initial guess before the PTO issue) and said it looked good.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I'd like to try any possible fixes / assessments without splitting it apart first. Thanks, have a quality weekend!
