OK as an old soldier, former tactics instructor, amateur historian and grumpy old guy I can say this about the French. Their soldiers, even on the brink of defeat, have fought bravely. Poor leadership have seen them to many disasters. Because of their defeat and subsequent occupation in WWII they seem to have lost their national pride with the losses in Viet Nam and North Africa hurting them even more. The US lost it's national pride after Viet Nam but seemed to regain it after Grenada. So they are not the only country to have gone that route.
Now as far as what the Mexicans did? Who cares? Seems that Mexico has lost a war or 2 too.
Mostly some here celebrate it because they are ignorant. Others just to make certain people angry. Heck if it were not for forums like this I'd forget about it.
