There is a strange chemical reaction that happens to rubber when it is heated like that, and it creates an explosive bomb, can be some time later, that will blow your shop apart.
Never heat a rim with a mounted tire, even 1/2 mounted.
There are many safety youtubes about it.
No, it won't happen every time. But it sure seems to happen often enough! Do not take that chance.
