So, I've done a lot of business with people here on this site over the years. Every single time I've been treated like a king and treated those I dealt with in the same way. Recently a member here needed a hard to come by hydraulic fitting. I happened to have a good used example hanging on the wall and offered it to him at less than half the price for a new one. I won't go through all the emails back and forth and his requests that I do things that indicated he clearly didn't trust me. I ended up boxing up the item and sending it to him without demanding payment in advance, supplied him with a tracking #, etc. All I asked was that he notify me when it got there and make payment by either USPS or Western Union Money Order. Today I got a response that it had arrived and fit fine and that he was sending a personal check because "getting a money order is a hassle". What the heck? I do the leg work, I make 2 trips to the PO to find the cheapest way to ship it and make sure it's insured and answer question after question from him and carry through on my end, but it's too much trouble for him to do the one thing I asked? His time is apparently worth a lot more than mine!
I'm not going to name names or discourage anyone from trusting others here, but I certainly learned that honor and character aren't shared by every one that comes here.

The colony remained far from self-supporting and it was not until the early 1800's that things started to improve. Free settlers started to arrive, they followed the explorers across the mountains and where land was suitable set up farms. T
