I'd think the dealer doesn't want to have to handle large amounts of cash. Makes them vulnerable to theft/robbery too. Amounts of $10,000 and over result in paper work when they go to the bank. Forewarned my MIL to expect that if she takes a large cash payment for the motor home she's selling, she had no clue about that.
