Read yer warranty. If the gas gums up because you failed to perform proper storage procedures it's not covered. I just happen to have the manual on my desk for a new, as of this morning pressure washer. Says you can leave fuel in it 60-90 days while in storage. Anything longer than that they tell you to drain the tank and carburetor. So seeing as ethanol gas blends don't START to go bad for about 90 days you take it in with a gummed up carb and they can pretty safely say that you didn't follow the instructions in the owners manual. When I lived down south I never had an issue with gas of any type. Here, where some small engines sit 6 or more months at a time? I haven't had any problems sense I stopped using gas laced with ethanol.
Now as far as being fixed? Yea, they will run on it. But when an outboard manufacturer who made my new outboard that's nearly 10K says we would prefer if you didn't run ethanol blended fuels......well lets say I'm willing to take their word over yours.
