i agree. not unreasonable to charge a restock fee but i think for off the shelf parts 20% is too high.
it does take time/effort to put them back in inventory and it discourages people from ordering the wrong part.
it would be worse for the dealer 20 miles further to also have a restocking fee ... right?
now having said that a lot of places do not charge a restocking fee.
I ordered a cell phone battery online without looking at the instructions to install it 1st. it involves light brain surgery to install the battery and probably a good chance i would goof it up and then have no phone... it wasn't too high $25 w/shipping. for me to return it - more shipping - restock fee i would get about $7.00 back. still $7 but hardly worth the hassle.
