Actual grass seed is kinda hard to seed. It has those little wings on it, so it actually doesn't go through the old fashioned 'grass seeder' boxes on a grain drill. Those little boxes are good for planting alfalfa and clover and other small round seeds.
The grass seed I mix with oats and plant the oats. The grass comes up and is pretty strong by the second year.
The fancy seeders with a pick type planting setup to plant actual grass seed all by itself are quite spendy.
Perhaps others know a lot more about this the. I do, but how I was taught with old ideas and old equipment.
