To fix a tank right solder it. Puckys, glue, epoxy, JB, coatings and all that stuff is for amateurs and won't last. Yeah I know, someone here has a tank with JB weld or one with Grandpa's special blend of armadillo turds mixed with Elmers glue 40 years ago and it's still holding. Ive also scraped a lot of different kinds of crap off of them that someone smeared on that didnt last and soldered them. Wash it out with lacquer thinner then wash it again with hot soapy water. Then let it vent with all bungs, caps, fuel gage openings open for a couple of days. I use oxy/acet with about 1 - 2 lbs of pressure on the gages. The bottom has to be clean, clean! Best if you can sandblast it. If not wire wheel it good. Use plenty of flux. Ordinary lead free solder from Home Depot is fine.
