The idea of pulling the #1 plug and cranking it on diesel is OK except they usually won't crank on diesel mode. I would start it and switch to diesel mode. Then let it idle and remove #1 plug to see if it was getting past the starting valve. If it was quiet their, I would look to low compression on that cylinder. JimN
