most vehicles or auto manufacturers have similar software or restrictions. I'm sure since there are thousands and millions more automobiles on the road, aftermarket companies have reverse engineered the software and came up with equipement to work around the restrictions.
There is obviously not going to be as much demand to hack John Deere software, people have already done it and it will become more popular. The problem with this stuff is, what happens when they go obsolete and lose dealer support. This tractor is totally useless now because some sensor/module is faulty and can't be replaced.
