: Two tried & true methods (at least by me) :-). First, spray inside & out with your favorite penetrant/moisture displacer (I have had real good luck with Gibbs for this). Second, I have drilled weep holes in the lower part of the cap to allow it to breath. Use a 1/8" bit (REAL SHARP PLEASE) and use a finger drill or just your fingers, don't use much pressure and TAKE YOUR TIME! Some of the older caps had holes cast in, look at some of the newer cars and they have vent towers. Of course, the best advice is to put it away:-). A GASKETED 9n dist will work fine. One possible problem is blowby getting in. Make sure the dist bushing is good, and the oil breather is ok.
