grayrider, I've been a landlord for 50 years. If I allow a tenant to have a dog and dog bites someone, I get sued.
After reading all the comments, you can see why I don't allow dogs. All dogs bite. All dogs bite, all dogs are a potential liability for a landlord.
Landlords are required to allow Emotional Support Animals. That animal can be anything, pigs, peacocks, horses, dogs, cats. Dogs are not required to be trained. Dogs can be pitbulls. Indiana passes a law that removes Landlord liability for Emotional Support Animals.
If you read my last listing, about 900,000 dog bites, 1 in 69 people have been bitten by a dog. The Pitbull is responsible for 74% of the fatalities. That's almost 3 out of 4 deaths caused by one breed. All dogs bite, only a few dogs can kill putting them on the list of the most dangerous.
Another take from your post is the best argument for a nation wide Leash law. I'm glad I live in a county that requires dogs to be on a leash or confined.
