Swap wires on coil?? Sounds like you need to do so simple testing. Since your now 12 volt that means your also - ground. So use a simple hot wire from the + side of the batter to the ignition side of coil. If it start then you have a problem form the ignition switch to the coil. If it does not start then check to make sure you have a good blue white spark at the center wire of the distributor cap that will jump a 1/4 inch gap or more if you do not then check the points
