I am one who know's about exploding gasoline first hand as it happened to me and I still wear the scars on my ugly face and hands. DO NOT USE ANYTHING WITH SPARK's.I now fill it with detergent and water repeatedly until I think it's clean, then I use lacquer thinner, then again with detergent and water repaetedly --2 dozen times minnimum. If you need to pound on a gas tank, for what ever reason use a brass punch or cold chisels as they do not spark.To seal one I heard that "Eastwood" companies gas tank sealer does well. To weld one, I have a friend do it with Dry Ice (frozen carbon dioxide). Follow up with "sod" above, except "NO SPARKS". Be Safe and Good Luck
