We have a retired CO that works with us when we need some extra help. There was also a guy I knew most of my life that was a skilled taper/painter who had a drug/alcohol/anger management problem that spent some time in prison. It could be quite comical when we had them working on the same job. Unfortunately the taper/painter passed a couple years ago from alcohol posioning, shame, as he was good at what he did. Growing up the neighbors farmhand was an excon. They hired him when he got out of prison and I don't think he ever left the farm after that. They told him he was welcome to stay and he did. I guess he had no family so when he passed they took care of everything.
