My sympathies and prayers go out to all involved in this tragedy. As an owner and operator of steam traction engines myself (all certified by the State Inspector) I am constantly aware of the danger. However, from the photos I have seen, it appears that the explosion occured due to low water and not with any weakness due to age. It also looked to be a relatively late model Case witha butt strap boiler. I'm just so sad that children were hurt and killed.
