For your use, gasoline is the way to go, lower maintainance costs, buy just a few gallons of gas at a time and add Sta-Bil to preserve it. Cheaper intitial cost.Easier starting in cold weather. Horsepower is Horsepower so that elimiates the 'not as strong" argument. Might not have the lugging ability, but that is not a pre-requsite for your intentions. As far as getting hot, keep the radiator clean inside and out, and there is no logic to that argument.
