The Amish guys who built my last building has some nice fiberglass ladders with rubber tips made on the ends. From up on top of the ladder he would hold top rung with one hand and push off building with the other and move the top from one side to another at a decent angle and them proceed to nail where he could now reach. Gave them a lot of reach without climbing down every time to reposition ! but sure looked scary.
