Thanks. Not a GM 2 stroke guy but I know of numerous applications of 6-71 and vaguely remember an 8-71; number of cylinders and 71 cu in per cylinder. I liked the sound of the 6-71 in bobtail, tandem rock buckets, 10 speed (I guess), 10 cu. yd. loads. Real tight power band and hit it real fast.
Met a commercial fisherman out of Layfitte, La. that had a planing (hull) shrimp boat with one. Really neat having a boat of that size on top of the water at 20+ mph rather being a 10 mph displacement hull like most shrimp boats. Course the reason was the distance to the Gulf was quite lengthy and the marsh waters were shallow in many places (other than the deliberately dug channels).
