Of all the things about dairy farming I am going to miss hearing that dreaded phone alarm sounding in the middle of the night because a cow kicked the milker off and pulled off a hose or a mouse chewed a milk sample line and the receiver is drawing air and air locking as it’s trying to pump out or whatever a phone screaming 2’ from my head at 2am isn’t one of them! More often then not it’s at 2-3 am or when your trying to enjoy scarce time away from the farm with your family. 5 years + of being tied to the phone 24/7 and being the only call recipient is definitely not something I’ll miss,it’s pretty near impossible getting back to sleep after you’ve been waken in the middle of the night and you have to get up and go out to the barn even if it’s only a 10 minute fix, once you been asleep for 4-5 hours and your up and alert your awake. My rant for tonight,no hopefully I can get back to sleep before 6 lol.
