How do you find out the GCWR? I have a 2000 Chevy 1-ton 5.7 gas and the only mention I could find is buried in the owners manual where it gives the maximum trailer weight for various combinations of engines, rear axles etc.; it is nowhere on the door sticker and there is not mention of maximum combination weight. If the axles, brakes, tires etc. are all the same on the 1-ton single wheel trucks, does it matter if the truck has a 350 engine or a 454 as far as being safe or legal? I don't see how any dual tandem trailer could be legally used to its capacity behind a pickup since most are rated 18,000 and up. This may be allowed for ag use within 150 miles of the farm, but then you would still be over the figure in the owners manual.
