The tires on my 39 F-20 looked new. After I got it running, I had a side wall split. I put a tire liner and boot in it. Then last summer the other tire split while I was driving it around the block. I removed the fluid from both tires and put a boot and homemade tire liner in that tire also. I assume that the fluid was not allowing the sidewalls to absorb the shock of uneven ground. If you think the tires are weak, be sure there isn't any fluid in the tires. Just my opinion.
