Blanket statements about what is or is not lawful really does nobody any good as it varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
In some states, there can be simple tresspass where you are discovered to have innocently wandered onto someone’s land and are asked to leave. If you refuse to leave or cause damage to the land, you could be charged with criminal tresspass. If you enter the land with the intent to harm someone you could be charged with aggravated tresspass. Damage or cut merchantable timber you could be charged with timber tresspass. Different levels of tresspass with different penalties. But it depends on the jurisdiction.
