Morbid topic for sure, but something that should be considered and talked about no less. I agree with the idea of cremation. And rather than buying/renting a coffin for the funeral, I would prefer my mortal remains to be taken and cremated as soon as would be convenient. If my family wish to hold a celebration of life sometime later, that would be of course their choice. Far too much money is spent nowadays on a flashy send off, and funeral homes bilk thousands of dollars out of people in their time of grief. And use every sales tactic in the book to enrich their own profits. Too much drama. I have been a pallbearer at least a dozen times, and every casket I have ever carried was placed into a concrete vault. A few times we were asked to even put the lid on the vault, but not anymore. After the service, the backhoe puts the lid on and lowers it into the grave after everyone has gone.
