Which pump do you have, original fixed phase no advance housing, or the updated pump housing with advance similar to what 4020 has? They DON'T time the same. Missing, white smoke can be engine related too, not fuel system at all. Only way to know is have injectors pulled and do a compression test. Another quick check, loosen each injector line with engine running at idle while watching the exhaust, each cylinder SHOULD miss when the fuel is taken away. If you find a cylinder that does not change engine sound AND the white smoke CLEARS when the fuel is taken away that's the suspect low compression cylinder. White smoke means it's getting fuel, but cylinder is too cold to burn it..
