Ok, here's a point of view to thoroughly confuse you.

I've got 4 acres of rather convoluted land. I've mowed it for several years with my Ford 8N and a 5 foot rear mower. Typically takes me a few hours to do the whole place. That does not include the many areas I cannot get a tractor into and have to go back and mow by hand. The 5' mower also gouges the ground regularly on turns.

Fast forward to the $50 used riding mower I've got with a 40 inch deck. Mow the same 4 acres of rather convoluted land in the same few hours. That includes the areas I could not mow with the 8N, and does not include the gouges the 8N and mower would leave.

So, for a fraction of the purchase price, I can successfully mow my place with a dirt cheap old riding mower that barely burns any gas compared to a farm tractor.
