My vehicles are all around 2000-2001 model year. To get the new sticker every year costs around $145. One-time sales tax fee at 6% of purchase price when vehicle changes hands. Minimum is based on $500 selling price for old clunkers.
Historic tags are avail for vehicles 25 yrs and older. Fees are less but use is supposed to be limited. Ppl use these historic-tagged cars as daily drivers to get around the veh safety inspection requirement and there seems to be little if any enforcement.
Of course mandatory insurance is a separate issue and everyone tries to get the best deal they can find. Maryland has typically high fees for everything but for registering vehicles it's actually pretty reasonable.
