I bought an 08 with 5.3 about 3 years ago. It had a collapsed lifter at 95k, but a ton of running hours. I deleted all the afm components and had the computer flashed. After I put it all back together, I figured I'd drive it a bit and change the oil as it had a recent dealer change on it. It had very low oil pressure. 6 or 7psi idle and less than 20 at highway speed when warm.
Long story short, getting rid of the Delco filter fixed it. 15 to 20 at idle and 35 to 40 on the highway for the last 25k miles. I used to think a Delco filter was as good as it get for my GM vehicles. It would be about the last filter I'd buy now.
