as others have said there are pros and cons. ready the "policy" first to see what is actually covers and when.
we have had it on and off on our verizon phones. we didn't know it but it covers the phone but also gives you an extended warranty with verizon. our daughters phone was acting up and it turns out it was a bad battery that had swollen up and was putting pressure on the case and circuit boards causing it to act up. since we had the insurance and it was a problem with the phone, not damage, it was replaced with the same or equivalent better phone. she got a new phone a couple days later. no issues. it was then next model up ##+ instead of the ## that she had. so in this case it worked out in our favor. otherwise the old phone was just old enough that it was past its warranty and we would have had to get something newer.
